Adrian Spillmann
Adrian Spillmann is Director of Corporate Intellectual Property for the Valneva group (a European biotech company focusing on vaccines) in Vienna, Austria, and specializes in patent and trademark prosecution, patent and trademark enforcement, patent drafting, patent portfolio management, in house patent counseling, patent monetization and intellectual property transactions in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals and other life science projects.
His areas of expertise include protection of prophylactics, therapeutics, and diagnostics for infectious diseases, immunological disorders, cancerous diseases, neurodegenerative disorders and metabolic disorders, vaccine technologies, antibody technologies, production of biological and chemical compounds, new medical uses, and formulations of known compounds.
After earning his Ph.D. at the University of Zurich, Switzerland, Adrian was a Consultant at Deloitte, followed by a 7-year stay in various positions in the patent department at Novartis. Furthermore, Adrian was Senior Patent Attorney at Ablynx, an antibody company in Belgium, for three years.
Adrian is a European and Swiss-registered patent attorney and received his LLM from the University of Law in London.

Stefan Horstmann
Dr. Stefan Horstmann is Head of the Patents B2B Department of Merck KGaA and Managing Director of AZ Electronic Materials GmbH. He is in charge of organizing IP support for the business-to-business activities of the Merckgroup and steering the Merckgroup Trade Secret protection measures.
Dr. Horstmann holds a PhD in Chemistry and is qualified as European and German Patent Attorney. Before becoming a manger in the intellectual property group, he served as in-house patent attorney at Merck KGaA and Henkel KGaA and as an IT consultant at SerCon GmbH.
Dr. Horstmann is a member of the European Patent Institute (EPI), the German Chemical Society (GDCh) and the Association of Intellectual Property Experts (VPP). He represents Merck to matters of intellectual property law at the European Chemical Industry Council (CEFIC) and the German Chemical Industry Association (VCI).

Andras Jokuti is an intellectual property lawyer with proven domestic and international experience in public IP policy and university technology transfer. Since January 2022, he is the Director of the Patent and Technology Law Division at WIPO. He is the former Director-General for Legal Affairs of the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office. As a Fulbright scholar, he obtained an LL.M. in Intellectual Property Law (2015) at The George Washington University (Washington, DC). Between 2019 and 2021, he assisted the Budapest University of Technology and Economics to strengthen its IP and technology transfer operations.

Lena Pauschenwein is a jurist specialised in intellectual property law and works in the Intangible Economy Unit of the Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG GROW) of the European Commission.
Lena holds law degrees from the University of Vienna (Magister iuris) and the University of Glasgow (LLM), both with a focus on intellectual property and technology law. Prior to joining the European Commission in 2021, she worked at the Austrian Supervisory Authority for Collective Management Organisations.

Sean Alexander is a qualified European Patent Attorney as well as a Canadian and U.S. Patent Agent. He has worked in the IP field for many years and is currently the Head of IP Strategy (H&N) for Chr. Hansen in Denmark. Prior to joining Chr. Hansen, Sean headed the IP team at Elanco Inc. based in the Netherlands and was a Partner with Gowling WLG in Canada. Sean has been recognized as one of the world's leading IP strategists by IAM Magazine and is regularly praised for his pragmatic and commercially aware approach to IP.

Don McCombie
Don McCombie is a partner in the London IP group at Clifford Chance. He advises on all aspects of IP law, in particular technical trade secrets and patent disputes. In recent years, Don has brought and defended trade secrets claims relating to technologies including cryptocurrency trading software, semiconductor designs, antibody libraries, fire-resistant coatings and liners for train gondola wagons, as well as business information and datasets. Don also regularly advises on the licensing and transfer of trade secrets and know-how and on practical strategies for protecting information and reducing the risk of trade secrets theft.

Tim is a serial entrepreneur who is passionate about technology, intellectual property and innovative business models. Prior to founding Tangibly, the world’s first enterprise SaaS for trade secret management, Tim was the CEO of WaveFront Venture Labs, a Singapore-based IP licensing business. Previously, he was a Portfolio Manager at Intellectual Ventures where he led investments in chemicals, IoT, and materials science. Tim began his career as a co-founder of Lumera, a nanotechnology company which pioneered a polymer-based optical switch (IPO, now part of Renesas). Dr. Londergan holds 50+ patents and applications and numerous peer-reviewed publications. He has a PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of Southern California.

Roberto Valenti
Roberto Valenti focuses on IP litigation, including matters relating to trademarks, copyrights, designs, unfair competition and misleading and comparative advertising. He also has experience dealing with IP non-contentious matters, such as drafting licence and transfer agreements relating to trademarks, copyrights and designs.
Roberto is also engaged in verifying IP portfolios and evaluating intangible assets in M&A scenarios.

Tjibbe is a partner in the Intellectual Property Group based in Amsterdam, with a focus on technology-related matters, in particular patents and trade secrets.
He advises and litigates for clients in the life sciences, tech & comms, energy & utilities and retail and consumer sectors. Tjibbe has extensive experience in both European and US litigation, including high-end multi-jurisdictional patent disputes.
Tjibbe has acted for both opponents and patentees as co-counsel in EPO opposition proceedings. He has also represented clients in contractual disputes, including contractual litigation involving milestone claims in the life sciences sector and in arbitration proceedings regarding IP warranties.
Tjibbe regularly advises clients on IP strategy and on technology-driven M&A deals including in the venture technology field.
His work has been recognised by rankings over the past years in Chambers Global & Europe, Who's Who Legal Patents & Life Sciences, IAM Patent 1000, MIP and in 2020 by receiving the Client Choice Award for Intellectual Property - Patents in the Netherlands.
